  • I am a Life Scientist with multidisciplinary expertise in biochemistry, biotechnology, and microbiology and a keen interest in expanding my experience to improve the translational outcomes of the studies I generate. My research focus has been on microbial biochemistry; specifically, the role of microbes in the degradation of xenobiotics and enhancement of the nutritional properties of foods. My background in the design of aerobic and anaerobic oil-degrading enrichment cultures, as well as interdisciplinary training in the fields of analytical chemistry, molecular biology, bioinformatics, and microbial ecology assist me in the molecular characterization of oil-eating microbes, assessment of contaminant levels in various environmental matrices and exploration of the health benefits of natural products including medicinal plants and microbially fermented local foods.
