Welcome to Centre for Niger Delta Studies (CENDS)

The Centre for Niger Delta Studies (CENDS), Delta State University, Abraka, Nigeria, formerly called the Centre for Environmental and Niger Delta Studies, was established by its Senate resolution at the 163rd meeting in January 2019 to conduct cutting-edge research into the multifariuos issues afflicting the embattled Niger Delta region of Nigeria. CENDS is intended to specifically focus its lenses on Delta State in the western Niger Delta.

About Us

Welcome to Centre for Niger Delta Studies (CENDS)

Our Aim

  • Initiate and conduct collaborative research on Niger Delta affairs and issues
  • Collaborate with local and foreign research individuals and organizations (universities, institutes, centres, etc).
  • Develop research proposals for governments, companies, and other local/foreign bodies required to fund this research.
  • Promote capacity building through training, workshops, and seminars to build the capacity of researchers, students, and community leaders in the Niger Delta region.
  • Provide technical support and training on the Niger Delta for clients upon request
  • Publish cutting-edge research findings through reputable publications of international standing.
