  • Professor Uyoyou Nelson.O Edewor (Sculptor and Art Historian) is a Leventis Postdoctoral Fellow of the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London (2012). As Art Historian, Nelson’s area of specialization is on the synthesis of Ekiti and Igbomina woodcarving cultures as espoused in Lamidi Olonade Fakeye’s (1928-2009) practice. In sculpture practice, Nelson has generated a formalism based on Ivri and petroleum oil pipelines that expresses the Niger Delta’s petroleum oil exploitation. He has numerous solo and group exhibitions to his credit both locally and internationally. His studio practice has generated several masters and Ph.D dissertations and theses. Nelson has mentored many students at the undergraduate and postgraduate studies within and outside his university. He served as Ag. Head of Department (2015-2018) and is currently Director of the University’s Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies. he is also an external examiner and assessor to several institutions. To the glory of God, Professor U.N.O Edewor is an ordained Priest of the Anglican Communion. He is Married to Dr. Mrs A.O Edewor and their marriage is blessed with three sons.
