- Professor Isijokelu Moses OJEIFO an Agriculturist with specialised training in Crop Production/Science. He has special interests in Horticulture (Plant Propagation, Pomology & Olericulture), Sustainable Agriculture and Cropping Systems. He holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Crop Science from University of Ibadan, Nigeria. He had a stint with International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, Ibadan. He worked as a Research Officer at National Horticultural Research Institute (NIHORT), Ibadan, during which period he stimulated interests and initiated research on intercropping studies involving horticultural crops. His current appointment is as a Lecturer with Delta State University (DELSU), Asaba Campus, Asaba, Nigeria, where he is engaged in Teaching, Research and Community Development. He had a Commonwealth Academic Staff Post-doctoral Fellowship at Wye College, University of London, United Kingdom, in 1996, where he acquired basic skills in Plant Tissue Culture Techniques.. Professor Ojeifo has reasonable years of Teaching and multidisciplinary research experience which has culminated in numerous academic publications in reputed journals to his credit. He is a member of many academic and professional bodies. He has served as External Examiner and Staff assessor for promotion to several universities. He has supervised several graduate and postgraduate students, some of whom are professors today. He has a reasonable administrative experience as Head of Department repeatedly, as Associate Dean and Chairmanship of various responsible administrative and Development Committees at NIHORT and DELSU. He was recently appointed the Chairman, Pre-Degree Board of Delta State University. He has contributed to community service as a resource person for numerous capacity building programmes, as a member of responsible grass-root and national Non-Governmental Organisation and as a Consultant and or Resource Person to various development agencies, such as RMRDC, UNDP, DELSEPA and Delta ADP. He is interested, and often participates in grass-root sustainable development programmes aimed at enhancing food security and the environment, as well as ameliorating poverty. He is a co-founder of Bioresource Conservation Network, a National Non-Governmental Organisation. Prof. Isijokelu Moses Ojeifo delivered the 56th in the series of the Inaugural Lectures of the Delta State University, Abraka, Nigeria, on 23rd March, 2017, titled, ‘’Lost Crops of Nigeria: Who Shall We Send to Retrieve them?’’. He is socially guided by the philosophy of Stephen Grellet (1773 – 1855): “I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore, that I can do or any kindness I can show … let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again”. His Hobbies include Music, Travelling, Gardening, Germplasm Collection and Conservation of Endangered Crop species. He is married to Mrs. Ngozi Patricia Ojeifo (Nee Osagede) and blessed with lovely children.
