  • Stephen Ogagaoghene Emosairue was born some 65 years ago and he did his primary and secondary schools in the then Midwestern Region of Nigeria, which later became Bendel State and came out in Division 1 in the West African School Certificate Examination (WASC). Bendel State has now been demarcated into two States in Nigeria namely: Delta State and Edo State. He had his university education in two universities in Nigeria namely; University of Calabar for undergraduate and Doctorate studies while his Master Degree was obtained from the University of Ibadan. Throughout both the undergraduate and Master Degree studies, he distinguished himself academically topping his class as the best graduating student at both levels thereby clinching a postgraduate scholarship from the University of Calabar. He is an Entomologist by profession and since obtaining his degrees, has worked full time in three universities over a period spanning 32 years while also working at a time, on part-time basis in one. In addition, he has served as External Examiner to seven universities namely, University of Nigeria, Nsukka, (UNN), University of Calabar, Calabar, (UNICAL), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU), University of Uyo, (UNIUYO), Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) and Niger Delta University (NDU), Wilberforce Island. He also serves as reviewer to many agricultural and allied journals. During these years of lecturing in the University system, he served in various academic and administrative capacities such as Examinations/Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) Officers, Dean of a College, Head of Department, Deputy Dean of Students, Chairman, Campus Accreditation Committee, Postgraduate Seminar Coordinator and Provost of Delta State University, Oleh Campus among others. He is a member of Senate of Delsu and was also a member of the Governing Council of the Delta State University, Abraka between November 2015 and November 2019. Stephen is meticulous, hardworking, painstaking and committed to excellence. He has published many academic papers in both local and international journals and attended a number of conferences and courses such as: (1) An advanced Leadership Training in Singapore 1986 (2) Training in New Concept of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) at the Institute of Plant Protection, Bet Dagan in Israel utilizing an Israeli Government Scholarship in 2000. (3) The 4th International conference on Climate change and humanity, that took place at GIS National Taiwan University Convention Center, Taipei, January 24th to 25th January, 2015. (4) An International Higher Education Executive Training Course (with the theme: Managing Good Governance in Higher Education) in Dubai, in 2016. He has supervised several undergraduate students, five (5) Master Students and fourteen (14) PhD students. Presently, he is supervising two doctorate students. Similarly, his book, for tertiary schools and institutions titled Fundamentals of Agricultural Entomology published in 2007 by the Ethiope Publishing Corporation (EPC), Benin City Nigeria is widely used in tertiary Schools. These varied experiences/exposures have prepared him for a successful career and he would be an asset to any employer in his field. His core competencies are computer skills, good communication skills, inter-personal skills/relationship and team building and working in multi-cultural environment.
