- I am an accomplished Researcher and Lecturer with more than 3 decades of teaching experience in the Higher Education sector in Nigeria. My research work has been shared with academic audiences in Nigeria and abroad, including the UK and Portugal. I obtained BSc Nursing (2001) and MSc Nursing (2012 - Specializing in Medical Surgical Nursing), both from the University of Ibadan. Prior to that, I trained as a Registered Nurse at the Baptist School of Nursing Eku and proceeded to train as a Registered Midwife at University College Hospital, Ibadan. I am a registered Nurse Educator with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria. My research expertise is in HIV & AIDS treatment and prevention, and I have led workshops to educate people living with HIV & AIDS (PLWHA) on effective strategies for managing the disease. My doctoral research is investigating the relationship between adherence to HIV/AIDS treatment and a key index of treatment outcome - viral load suppression. The research output will provide empirical evidence to underpin the strategic policy framework for ending HIV/AIDS in Nigeria, especially in the South-South region where the prevalence is at the highest level.
I started my professional career as a Staff Nurse at Baptist Medical Centre Eku where I gained first-rate clinical experience in different hospital settings and wards, including Accident and Emergency Nursing. I later joined the Baptist School of Nursing Eku as a Clinical Instructor and rose to the position of Vice Principal with oversight for key administrative duties. I joined the Department of Nursing Science at Delta State University Abraka in 2006 where I have held several administrative roles in addition to my research and teaching responsibilities.
I enjoy training the next generation of Nurses who will play a critical role in tackling the health challenges of the 21st century. In addition to teaching and research supervision, I am also the University Liaison for the indexing of students with the Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and jogging. You can reach me by email - omenogorpatricia@yahoo.com.
