  • Dr. Jerome Ndudi Asiwe is an alumnus of Delta State University where he graduated with B.Sc (Hons) in Physiology in 2014. He obtained M.Sc (2018) and Ph.D (2024) in Cardiovascular and Respiratory Physiology from the Premier University, The University of Ibadan. He was first appointed as assistant lecturer in 2021 by PAMO University of Medical Sciences, Port-Harcourt. where he worked for about 2 years before joining the services of Delta State University in 2022. Dr. Asiwe is a prominent researcher and young academic who has been contributing to the field of medical sciences since 2021. Prior to this role, he held positions at the University of Ibadan and its College of Medicine, where he focused on various aspects of health and environmental research from 2021 to 2023. His academic journey reflects a strong commitment to advancing knowledge in the areas of Cardiovascular Physiology, Pharmacology and Toxicology. Dr Asiwe's research primarily investigates the effects of natural supplements on health, particularly in relation to oxidative stress and inflammatory responses. His recent publications highlight the protective roles of lutein, taurine as well as Ginkgo biloba and other natural extracts against various forms of cardiovascular dysfunction in animal models. These studies not only contribute to the understanding of potential therapeutic agents but also emphasize the significance of traditional medicine in contemporary health science. In 2022, he was the 7th best researcher in PAMO University of Medical Science as published by AD Scientific index and shortly after that, he was ranked 46th best researcher by Delta State University ranking of scholarly outputs, indexed in Web of Science and Scopus. He has published over 50 research articles in both local and international peer reviewed journals with majority ranking among top 25% of world journal ranking (Q1). He has H-index of 10, i10-index of 12 and 331 citations to his credit. He is a very effective, productive and innovative researcher, supervisor and a teacher, he has directly supervised over 30 undergraduate projects and acted in the capacity of auxiliary supervisor to several postgraduate students. In addition to his research endeavors, Dr. Asiwe has received numerous research and conference grants from PAMO University of Medical Sciences and Delta State University underscoring his influence and recognition within the scientific community. His work continues to inspire further exploration into the intersection of translational medicine, making him a valuable asset to the academic and research landscape in Nigeria and beyond. He is a member of several local and International professional bodies among whom are The Physiological Society (Physoc), United Kingdom, the Physiological Society of Nigeria (PSN) and the Society of Experimental Biology of Nigeria (NISEB)
