  • Professor Jonathan Tsetimi stands as a towering figure at the confluence of Industrial Mathematics, Computing, and Artificial Intelligence within Nigeria's academic and professional landscape. As the esteemed Vice-President South-South of the National Association of Artificial Intelligence Practitioners (NAAIP), his leadership is pivotal in shaping the trajectory of AI development and ethical application across the nation. His role as the Director of the Center for International Collaboration and Linkages (CICL) at Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka, Nigeria, further underscores his commitment to fostering a globally connected research environment. Holding BSc, MSc, and PhD degrees in Industrial Mathematics from the prestigious University of Benin, alongside a Postgraduate Diploma in Business Administration from DELSU, Professor Tsetimi possesses a formidable academic foundation. His distinguished career seamlessly blends theoretical depth with practical application, marking him as a true polymath in his fields. Prior to his impactful tenure in academia, Professor Tsetimi honed his expertise as a System Analyst, Programmer, and ICT trainer, gaining invaluable real-world experience that continues to inform his academic insights. His exceptional capabilities led to over five years of consultancy with the World Bank and the African Development Bank, where he played a crucial role in ICT Management for institutional strengthening projects in Nigeria, demonstrating his capacity to translate theoretical knowledge into tangible societal benefits. At the helm of CICL in DELSU, Professor Tsetimi is instrumental in cultivating a dynamic research culture and spearheading vital international collaborations. His dedication to innovation is further evidenced by his long-standing active participation in DELSU’s ICT committee. Professor Tsetimi is a member of the Advisory Board of the Association of Cyber Security Practitioners, and the current Chairman of the Postgraduate School’s Plagiarism Committee in DELSU in addition to several current roles in the university system in Nigeria and beyond. Professor Tsetimi's position as the Vice-President South-South of NAAIP is a testament to his national leadership in the burgeoning field of Artificial Intelligence. He is a driving force behind promoting synergy among AI practitioners and multidisciplinary researchers, catalyzing research and development initiatives, and championing the ethical and responsible deployment of AI technologies for the collective advancement of society. His scholarly contributions are substantial, boasting well over 100 academic publications, alongside two co-authored books, numerous impactful academic presentations, and insightful contributed chapters. These works span his diverse research interests, which include the foundational principles of Industrial Mathematics, the practical applications of Mathematical Computing, the optimization strategies of Operations Research, the analytical power of Data Analysis, the efficiency of Scheduling, the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence, and the critical area of Mathematical Modelling of Infectious Diseases.
