Area of Specialization: Physical Chemistry
Department of Chemistry
Dr. Mrs. Loretta Chukwudumebi Overah received her Bachelor of Science, (B.Sc.) degree in Chemistry from Delta State University, Abraka, Nigeria in 2001and served as an Assistant Lecturer in the College of Agriculture, Lafia in Nasarawa State under the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) scheme. She obtained her Masters' degree in Physical Chemistry from The University of Ibadan, Nigeria in 2009. In 2015, she bagged a Ph.D degree in the area of Physical/Nanochemistry partly at the University of Ibadan (awarding institution) and The University of Kwazulu-Natal, Durban (Bench work/2013). Her teaching and research career started in 2007 as a Graduate Assistant and she is currently a Senior Lecturer. Her research focus is on thermodynamics, kinetics and isotherms of adsorption (remediation studies) and corrosion inhibition processes, measurements of Heavy metals, dyes, PAHs and PCBs in food, water and soil and their effects. She is currently investigating magnetic nano composites as adsorbents for water pollutants. She has about 30 peer-reviewed research articles in reputable journals and has supervised and co-supervised both undergraduate and post graduate students' projects. She is a member of various professional societies including Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN), American Chemical Society (ACS), and Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria (ICCON).
