  • Dr. Augustine Apiamu is a lecturer at the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Science, Delta State University, Abraka, and conducts research in the field of Environmental Biochemistry and Toxicology. He holds a Bachelor of Science (B. Sc.) degree in Biochemistry with Second Class (Upper Division) from the Delta State University, Abraka, Master of Science (M. Sc.) degree in Biochemistry from the University of Benin, Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) from National Teachers’ Institute (NTI), Kaduna and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biochemistry from the Delta State University, Abraka, Nigeria. Dr. Apiamu’s research interest includes fate, toxicological characterization and management of environmental pollutants on diverse biological systems through the deployment of robust biochemical and molecular tools. His multidimensional approach is geared towards the investigation of local biological content for the decontamination of these toxicants at low-cost. Dr. Apiamu is progressively publishing in high impact peer-reviewed journals, and presently serves as editorial board member and peer reviewer to reputable journals, publishers and scientific organizations. Dr. Apiamu is a member of several professional organizations, which include the Teachers' Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), the Nigerian Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (NSBMB), the West African Society of Toxicology (WASOT), the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC), amongst others. Despite his professional activities, Dr. Apiamu also engages in freelance commentary and analysis of modern-day socio-political issues.
