  • Professor John Nwanibeze Odili was born on the 15th of June, 1962. He hails from Obetim-Kwale in Ndokwa West Local Government of Delta State. He had his Primary Education in African School I, Ajegunle, Apapa, Lagos in 1975. His Secondary Education was in Ovu Grammar School Ovu-Inland, Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State. He obtained his B.Sc. (Ed) Biology degree from the University of Ilorin in 1986, M.Ed. and PhD in Measurement and Evaluation from the University of Nigeria Nsukka in 1992 and 2004 respectively. Professor John Nwanibeze Odili taught with Post Primary Education Board between 1988 and 1992 as Graduate Master I. He also taught in College of Education, Warri where he rose to the rank of Principal Lecturer before joining the Delta State University, Abraka in 2005. He became a Professor of Measurement and Evaluation of the Delta State University Abraka in 2014. Prof John Nwanibeze Odili has held several positions of responsibility in the course of his teaching career. Some of them are: 1. Ag. Chairman Examination Malpractice Committee, College of Education Warri. 2. Ag. Head, Department of Guidance and Counselling, Delta State University, Abraka. 3. Associate Dean, Faculty of Education, Delta State University, Abraka. 4. Chairman, Business Committee of Senate, Delta State University, Abraka 5. Current Director, Quality Assurance Centre, Delta State University, Abraka. He has served in several committees. He is also an external Examiner to some Universities in Nigeria. Prof John Nwanibeze Odili has made several contributions to knowledge in the field of Measurement and Evaluation. 1. He established the effect of language manipulation on differential item functioning of Biology Multiple Choice Test, using Item Response Theory of Measurement. 2. He has provided information that guides item writers to bridge the gender gap in performance in Biology. He has supervised several PhD and M.Ed. students in the field of Measurement and Evaluation. 1. Prof John Nwanibeze Odili is a member of the Association of Educational Researchers and Evaluation of Nigeria. 2. He is a member of the prestigious Nigeria Academy of Education. Prof John Nwanibeze Odili is happily married to Mrs Gloria Odili. The marriage has been blessed with four children.
