The Centre for Research and International Programmes was established by the Senate of Delta State University at its meeting of 25th January, 2005. The purpose of the Centre is to build relationships and contacts with other universities within and outside Nigeria, research institutions, companies, agencies and governments for the promotion of research and training, scholarship and international understanding. The Centre is a specialized unit under the Vice Chancellor’s office and is headed by a Director, who is assisted by a Deputy Director, and other administrative staff.


Delta State, located in the resource-rich southern region of Nigeria, is a land of vast opportunities. Known for its wealth of natural resources, including oil, gas, fertile agricultural land, and abundant water bodies, the state is a prime location for research, innovation, and development. These resources, combined with a focus on sustainable practices, create an ideal environment for growth in agriculture, aquaculture, engineering, and technology development.
