Our Mission

To support the university’s broader goals of quality education, research, and community service by being the central hub for strategic and effective communication. We achieve this by providing and disseminating timely and accurate information. In addition, through proactive public relations, we are deeply committed to facilitating effective communication within the university community and between the university community and external audiences/stakeholders.  We also plan and execute university ceremonies and events that uphold traditions, celebrate achievements, and foster community spirit.

Our Vision

To promote the university's image by projecting its academic excellence, research achievements, and contributions to society through effective and efficient communication.

To provide guidance on protocol, etiquette, and university traditions.

Our Goal

1. Strengthen Organizational Structure and Capacity

The first step toward improving the directorate’s efficiency is strengthening its internal structure and operational capacity. Expanding and refurbishing office spaces will create a conducive environment for staff, enhancing productivity. Recruitment of more professionals, such as videographers, graphic designers, and media experts, will increase the directorate’s ability to handle media production and event management. Regular staff training on modern communication techniques and public relations best practices will ensure that the team remains adaptable to current trends.

2. Enhance Public Relations and Media Engagement

Increased visibility and a stronger public image for DELSU will be achieved through a strategic approach to public relations and media engagement. Strengthening partnerships with the Mass Communication Department’s FM radio station and ECHO media outfit, as well as external outlets, will ensure broader media coverage of university events. Additionally, modernizing media production tools, including the procurement of updated cameras and recording equipment, will enhance content quality, further boosting DELSU’s profile. By maintaining a content calendar, DELSU can ensure regular updates and engagement across all platforms—website, social media, radio, and print.

3. Foster Technological Integration and Synergy

Integrating advanced technology into the directorate’s operations is crucial for streamlining communication and improving service delivery. Partnering with the ICT Centre will facilitate the digitization of services, including media outreach and event management. Establishing a centralized digital archive for multimedia content will ease access to past and current records, allowing seamless documentation of DELSU’s milestones. Collaboration with other university units, such as Exams and Records and the Integrated Data Centre, will ensure cohesive internal communication and information flow, improving the overall efficiency of the directorate.

4. Improve Ceremonial Coordination

Ensuring that university events, such as convocations and inaugural lectures, are professionally managed and impactful is vital. Developing standardized protocols for these ceremonies will guarantee consistency and high standards. Partnering with external vendors for event logistics, combined with acquiring modern media equipment, will ensure that all events are captured and disseminated professionally, reflecting the prestige of DELSU.

5. Ensure Financial Sustainability and Resource Management

For the Directorate to thrive, adequate funding and prudent resource management are essential. Increased financial support, including timely release of approved funds, from the university will enable the purchase of necessary equipment, stationery, and other operational tools. Exploring sponsorships for major university events could serve as an additional funding source. Implementing cost-saving measures, such as digitizing and effective sales and widespread distribution of the DELSU News Magazine will provide more financial autonomy and help the Directorate manage its resources more efficiently while maintaining high-quality service delivery.

6. Promote Intra-University Collaboration and Synergy

Collaboration with other university units will enhance service delivery and ensure the directorate operates efficiently. Working closely with units such as Exams and Records, the University Library, and the Postgraduate School will enable coordinated public communication on academic achievements and upcoming events. Highlighting research innovations and community service initiatives in partnership with the Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies will showcase DELSU’s contributions to society. Additionally, collaboration with other relevant units will ensure that important academic and administrative information is disseminated promptly, reaching the widest possible audience.

7. Launch and Maintain an Active and Updated Webpage

An active, regularly updated webpage is crucial for keeping stakeholders informed about DELSU’s activities. The Directorate, assisted by the Information and Communication Technology Directorate plans on developing a dedicated webpage or sub-site within DELSU’s official site, aligned with the university’s branding. The webpage will provide real-time updates on teaching, research, and community service, reflecting DELSU’s achievements and contributions. Event calendars, press releases, photo galleries, and videos will keep students, staff, and alumni engaged. Regular updates will ensure the site remains a dynamic platform for DELSU’s growth. Integration with the ICT Centre and Mass Communication Department will provide technical support, while applying Search Engine Optimization (SEO) practices will boost DELSU’s visibility and public engagement.
