On July 30, 2024, Serendib Capital Limited (SC), a London-based environmental investment business, and Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU), formalized her collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the commission of Serendib Capital Headquarters in Effurun, Delta State. This partnership aims to establish a state-of-the-art laboratory at DELSU for conducting soil sampling tests and analyses related to mangrove soil carbon, seagrass, and biochar, thereby supporting mangrove conservation efforts in alignment with the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) objectives. The laboratory will adhere to international standards in environmental testing, and both parties will jointly develop research projects focused on mangrove ecosystem conservation.
This MoU represents a significant step towards environmental stewardship and academic excellence, fostering a sustainable future for Nigeria's mangrove ecosystems.
