  • Ufuoma G Sorhue holds a BSc, MSc, and a PhD degree in Animal Science from Delta State University Abraka, Nigeria and a Post Graduate Diploma in Science Education from Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, Nigeria. He taught Agricultural Science at Secondary/High School from January 2010 – October, 2012.He taught and conducted research in Animal Science and Genetics at the Delta State College of Education Mosogar between November 20212 to February 2022. He became a full-Time/Permanent Academic Staff at the Department of Animal Science, Delta State University in March 2022. He was also a visiting research fellow at the University of Georgia, Athens USA between 2019 and 2020.He has attended and presented papers in several international conferences including the international Congress on Domestic Animal Breeding, Genetics and Husbandry (ICABGEH-22) in Samsun, Turkey, ASAS-CSAS Joint Annual Meeting USA, 2019, and IPSF, Atlanta Georgia 2019. He is currently the Public Relations Officer of the Genetics Society of Nigeria, and a regional executive member of the Biotechnology Society of Nigeria. He is a Registered member of the Animal Science Association of Nigeria, and a Registered Animal Scientist with the Nigerian Institute of Animal Science. His areas of research are Animal Genetics, Nutri-Genomics, and Immune responses chickens fed natural supplements. His current projects are (1)'SNP Identification in the growth hormone gene in a pig population in Nigeria (2) Expression analysis of candidate genes associated with growth and pork quality in metabolic tissues (Liver and Duodenum) of pigs (Genes currently been studied includes: GH1, RYR1, Leptin and IGF-2) fed different dietary energy sources.(3). Haematology and Serological indices of pigs fed different dietary energy sources (4).Performance evaluation and cost benefit analysis of unconventional energy feed sources in relation to maize in pig diet. His research experience and skills includes; Animal Breeding Technology, Genetic Analysis, DNA and RNA Extraction, cDNA Synthesis, Rt-qPCR analysis, ELISA and Nutigenomics research.
