  • Engr. Dr. Sunday Chukwuyem IKPESENI is a Senior Lecturer and currently the Acting Head, Department of Mechanical Engineering and a member of senate, Delta State University, Abraka. He has been the coordinator of General Studies and Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies, Oleh campus and had been appointed into several committees as chairman or member, both statutory and adhoc committees. He obtained Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Master of Engineering (M.Eng) degrees in Industrial Metallurgy and Corrosion Management in 2016 and 2008 respectively from the famous University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria, having earlier bagged a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng) (Hons) degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from the prestigious Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria in 1999. Engr. Dr. Sunday Chukwuyem IKPESENI has versed teaching and research experience at the Polytechnic and University levels. Firstly, five years at the Department of Welding and Fabrication Engineering, Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Nigeria and over eleven years with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Delta State University, Abraka-Oleh Campus, Nigeria. Presently, he is a visiting Lecturer to the Offshore Technology Institute, Faculty of Engineering, University of PortHartcourt, Nigeria where he teaches Corrosion Inspection and Mitigation at Masters level. He has also assisted in providing guidance to the successful completion of over four (4) post graduate research thesis/dissertations. His areas of research interest include: Physical and Mechanical Metallurgy, Manufacturing Technology, Composite Materials Processing, Synthesis and characterization, Corrosion and Corrosion Management. He had successfully conducted researches in: Production and Analysis of Mechanical Properties of Soft Solder (Pb – Sn) Alloys; Tensile Behaviour of AISI 301 Stainless Steel exposed to various Concentrations of Sodium Chloride; Microstructure – Mechanical Properties of Dual Phase Steels and Microstructure – Corrosion Susceptibility of Dual Phase Steels etc. Engr. S.C. Ikpeseni (PhD) has many publications to his credit in local, national and foreign reputable journals. He has attended several conferences, workshops and seminars. In terms of professional development and community service, Engr. Dr. Sunday Chukwuyem IKPESENI is a corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and duly registered with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN). He had led National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) resource verification/accreditation team to Polytechnics in Nigeria for resource verification and accreditation purposes. He is a resource person to the Nigerian Institute of Welding (NIW) for her qualifications and training programmes and other professional engagements. Dr. S.C. Ikpeseni is an external examiner to Department of Metallurgy, Delta State Polytechnic, Oqwashi-Uku. He is a reviewer to many reputable journals nationally and internationally. Engr. Dr. Sunday Chukwuyem IKPESENI is a devoted and committed Christian of the Anglican faith. He is joyfully and peacefully married to his amiable wife, Juliet Obiageli Chukwuyem-Ikpeseni. The union is blessed with three promising children, two handsome boys and a pretty damsel.
