  • Dr. Goodnews Agbi was born on the 2nd of February 1960 in Oyede, Isoko North LGA of Delta State. He attended Orile Iganmu Primary School Lagos, then to St Finbarr’s College Akoka Lagos, finished in 1980 and proceeded to Kings College Lagos for A level the same year. Dr. Agbi left Kings College 1981 through JAMB to the then Ahmadu Bello University, Bauchi Campus. He Graduated in 1987 with a Bachelor of Engineering, B.Eng, Civil. He went for his masters degree in University of Lagos where he obtained a Masters of Science in Structural Engineering, M.Sc, Structures in 1997. He then enrolled for an MBA program in 1999 at University of Calabar and graduated in 2001. He proceeded to Staton University, Tampa, Florida, USA, for his Ph.D in Monetary Economics. He Graduated in 2003. Dr. Agbi is a Member of Nigeria Society Engineers, Member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN. Dr. Agbi is a fellow Nigeria Society of Engineers, FNSE. He is also a Fellow of Africa Business School, FABS. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Policy Management Development, FIPMD. Dr. Agbi Lectures at Delta State University and teaches the following courses: (i) Strength of Materials iⅈ (ii) Advanced Structural Design of Concrete Structures; (iii) Structural Design of Prestressed Concrete; (iv) Design of Steel Structures; (v) Highway Design amongst others courses. Dr. Agbi has written several papers and books which include: Introduction To Structural Mechanics; and Theory of Structures. Dr. Agbi started working as Engineer with SNC Lavalin, a Canadian Consultancy firm that carried out the rehabilitation of Lagos State Water Works in Iju and Ishashi, a World Bank Sponsored project. He served as the Project Engineer, later promoted to Senior Project Engineer. He was involved in the Rehabilitation and the Redesign of Alum Tank house, the Intake Structures, The internal roads, the staff housing and several others. Agbi left the SNC Lavalin at the end of the project and incorporated the company, Mortgage Builders Limited where he was involved in designing and building of several structures in Abuja, Warri, which includes the design and building the Uwvie Local Government Secretariat and participating in the building of the Gwarinpa housing estate at Abuja, and several private buildings in Lagos and Abuja. Dr. Agbi is a Consultant to the NDDC where he Designed the Famgbe Road Extention from Ikolo Waterside across River Nun to Ammassoma, Airport at Bayelsa State. The Design of Emevoh ByPass and Internal roads in Isoko North Local Government Area Delta State. He also Supervised projects for NDDC, like the Shore Protection at Opuoma in Imo State.
