Welcome Message!Welcome to the Centre for Entrepreneurial Studies (CES), Delta State University, Abraka. The Centre serves as a fulcrum for our university's determination to teach and train students, staff, and potential entrepreneurs with the necessary traits and skills for entrepreneurial skill acquisition. As an academic resource unit, the centre creates and manages value-added businesses to mitigate uncertainty and risk for innovative venture creation and it serves as a mill to increase employment and industrial growth. Our mission is to build a competitive entrepreneurial Centre that inspires and supports novel and innovative training in business strategies and skill acquisition for students, staff, and the general public with an entrepreneurial mindset. Our vision is to create a thriving Entrepreneurial Centre with entrepreneurs committed to transforming business through novel innovation, value addition, and collaboration. Thank you for visiting our website. We look forward to partnering with you to create a sustainable entrepreneurship ecosystem that will foster industrial development and business growth to create jobs and reduce unemployment.
Arising from the stark reality of the unemployment rate amongst Nigerian graduates, and the slow industrial growth due to a lack of sustainable economic practices based on innovative, creative, and value-added products and services development, the National Universities Commission (NUC) introduced entrepreneurship training as a prerequisite to the award of degrees in Nigerian universities. Delta State University established the Centre for Entrepreneurship Studies in 2013 in compliance with the National University Commission (NUC) Minimum Benchmark directive. Over the years, the Centre has grown with a highly equipped permanent training Centre in Abraka main campus and the Oleh campus. Through these available facilities, the Centre has conscientiously and sustainably interpreted NUC’s policy on Entrepreneurship training as a compulsory course in student’s curriculum at the 200 and 300 levels (CES 211, Valued Addition and Enterprise Creation and CES 311, Skill Acquisition). The Centre has successfully graduated its first set of seven (7) students (stream I), thirty-eight (38) students (stream II) and currently training thirty-five (35) stream III students.
