The Centre for Continuing Education Programme was created as an academic unit in 2007 on the 5th of December at the 89th Regular meeting of Senate by the then Vice-Chancellor, Professor J.O. Enaohwo. The primary purpose of the creation of the centre was for it to absorb the excess students’ who qualified for admission into the regular degree programmes but could not be accommodated. The first Director of the Centre, Professor Emman Osakwe was appointed in December, 2007. Other Directors appointed were Prof. Douglason Omotor (2008-2010), Prof. Christian Ewhrudjakpor (2010-2011), Late Prof Atare Otitie (2011-2014), Prof. May Esiri (2014-2019) and Prof. Callistar Kidochukwu Obi (2020-till date).
Mandate:
To train and equip students with knowledge in various disciplines/fields of study that shall be capable of demonstrating the knowledge acquired thereby making contributions to the world in which they live.
