The Delta State University Drug Discovery and Translaonal Research Team (DELSUDDiTReT) in Abraka, Nigeria, intends to facilitate collaborave environment that will promote innovave research, discovery, and development of novel therapeucs, required to address the unmet health needs of humans and animals alike.

Our Objectives

1.1 Conduct Interdisciplinary Research

Foster collaboration among scientists, clinicians, veterinarians, and industry experts to drive innovation in drug discovery for the benefit of humans and animals.

1.2 Develop Novel Therapeutics

Design, synthesize, and evaluate new chemical entities, biologics, and natural products-inspired drugs for humans and animals.

1.3 Address Priority Health Challenges

Focus on diseases of high prevalence and burden in humans and animals in Nigeria, like malaria, tuberculosis, neglected topical diseases, trypanosomiasis, and animal diseases.

1.4 Enhance Livestock Productivity

Develop innovative solutions to improve livestock health, nutrition, and productivity; increasing food security and economic benefits for farmers.

1.5 Build Research Capacity

Develop and implement training programmes, workshops, and conferences to enhance research skills and knowledge in drug discovery and animal health.

1.6 Foster Industry-Academia Partnerships

Collaborate with pharmaceutical companies, biotech firms, veterinary pharmaceutical companies, and government agencies to accelerate drug development and translation.

1.7 Promote Technology Transfer

Facilitate the transfer of research findings and technologies to industry partners, entrepreneurs, and small-scale farmers.

Encourage and support entrepreneurship and innovation in drug discovery and animal health, leading to the development of new products and services.
